Bringing IronGate Collection's vision to life is co-founder Derek Plyler, whose hands-on approach to property care, maintenance, construction, and field operations helps ensure every home receives the attention it deserves, with more than 10 years of experience in High Country maintenance, construction, real estate and vacation rental management.As Director of Field Operations, Derek oversees the practical side of caring for each property - from coordinating repairs and routine maintenance to helping owners plan improvements. Derek is also a Level II septic installer, adding valuable knowledge of the systems that support a home's everyday function. His background in maintenance and renovation brings a practical perspective to protecting a home's condition and preparing it for guests.Derek approaches challenges with a straightforward mindset: understand the problem, find a workable solution, and follow through. Whether addressing an unexpected repair or planning a larger project, he focuses on quality work and the long-term needs of the property.Together, Derek and Mandy built IronGate Collection around a shared belief that owners deserve personal attention and people they can count on. Derek brings that commitment into the field, turning plans into action and keeping property care at the center of daily operations.Meet Mandy Taylor
At the heart of IronGate Collection is co-founder Maranda (Mandy) Taylor, a North Carolina Broker-in-Charge with more than 25 years of experience in High Country real estate and vacation rental management.Mandy leads owner relations, financial oversight, and real estate services, bringing a broad understanding of both the business and personal sides of property ownership. Her experience spans daily operations, maintenance coordination, marketing, and the guest experience - allowing her to see how each decision affects an owner's investment.Her approach is personal and straightforward: listen closely, communicate honestly, and build a plan around the property and person who owns it. Whether helping an owner navigate a challenge, improve rental performance, or consider buying or selling, Mandy provides clear guidance and practical next steps.After years of servicing High Country homeowners, Mandy saw a need for a company that values relationships over volume. Together, Mandy and Derek built IronGate Collection around a vision of attentive service, shared accountability, and confidence that every home is cared for as if it were their own.
Beyond property management, Mandy has spent more than two decades in the High Country’s real estate and tourism community, including leadership roles with the Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Development Authority (TDA).
That background gives her a working knowledge of the local rental market, what owners expect, and what mountain properties need through every season. It helps her spot problems early and give each property the personal attention larger companies often can’t.
